"The peace and contentment in the arms of Jesus, are worth everything, compared to the nothingness that this passing world will offer." - Leeland Mooring, (theoppositeway.com)
Monday night (rather Monday morning), I found myself awake in bed at 3:00am; and I couldn't go back to sleep. Ever had those nights when you just can't sleep because you kept thinking? This happens to me a lot, and usually I find myself thinking about all kinds of random things from my friends to school to I am Legend. However, that Monday night was different.
Most people know that I'm a music person. Music is like my life. If I'm not practicing piano or guitar, I'm either listening to my iPod or humming to myself. Probably the only time when I'm silent is when I'm sleeping--and probably dreaming that I'm playing in some amazing concert. So, yeah, it's pretty much music 24/7 for me.
Then I thought that night, What if music was taken away from me? What if someone or something took away my iPod, my guitar, my piano, or all my CDs? That would pretty much suck all the life right out of me. Then it hit me, as Leeland's lead singer, Leeland Mooring said. What is more important? Music or simply being in the arms or Jesus? That night, I felt something that I've never felt before. I thought of losing music, losing my home, losing everything I've ever had--for some reason, it didn't matter anymore. Maybe God woke me up at 3AM for a reason. He wanted to remind me that He was all that mattered. If I were to lose everything, I wouldn't lose anything, because God is everything. Maybe Paul said it best:
"What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things and consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ." (Philippians 3:8)

Sam this is Zack. I enjoyed your blog entitled 3am.
Before I ever went out with my friends as a teenager my dad used to always tell me, "Son, remember who's you are and where you came from." Sam, remember whose you are and where you came from and who gave you the things you love the most, God. I preached here in Alaska on Sunday and I spoke on the greatest commandment. The most important thing is that we love God! That we love Him with all of our heart, mind, and strength. Everything in us, from top to bottom. From guitar picks to piano keys. Just a thought. Everyone needs a comment on their blog everyone once and a while. It is good to hear from you and tell everyone thanks for the prayers. Tell your mom and dad we love them as well and continue to pray for them and the church.
wow sam, that's really cool.
